The California USBC Association youth “Star of Tomorrow” Award is available to the “best of the best” in California! Two categories available: male and female. Recipient(s) will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the University, Junior College or Vocational Institution of their choice.

Our intent in offering this scholarship is to recognize star qualities in our high school senior or college students who compete in the sport of bowling. Star qualities include: distinguished certified bowling performances on state, local, national, international, Team USA or Collegiate levels; academic achievement; and leadership.

The eligibility requires the male or female nominee to be an active member of the California United States Bowling Congress Association (Youth or Collegiate) and an amateur as defined by USBC rules.

The nominees must be:

  1. a high school graduating SENIOR who has APPLIED to an accredited University, Junior College or Vocational Institution – OR – CURRENTLY ATTENDING AN ACCREDITED University, Junior College or Vocational Institution;

  2. younger than 22 years of age as of November 15, preceding the January 15, 2008 application deadline date;

  3. Nominee must have a current season’s minimum average of 175. and an outstanding record of bowling achievements in the past and current seasons; and,

  4. have a minimum of 2.0 GPA or equivalent.

If you have need for information or cannot find an application near the Los Angeles or surrounding areas, please contact Phyl Knoll at phylbowl@sbcglobal.net 310-675-6034 tel/fax. Wouldn’t you be proud if you were the one that put an application in the hands of  “a winner”?

All high school seniors and currently enrolled college students are encouraged to apply. This award is both academically and sport performance graded. The scores of our youth bowlers are rising as fast as the cost of a college education in today’s economy.  You can help towards the expenses of a “college bound” youth bowler from your association, who you feel is eligible for this annual award, simply by submitting your nomination by the deadline date.
