Formerly the California State Bowling Association (CSBA), California Women's Bowling Association (CWBA)
and the California Young American Youth Bowling Alliance (CSYABA)

The California Youth Leaders Association (CYLA) was organized back in 1985 to serve as a direct channel of communication between USBC youth bowlers and the California USBC Association. They help train members in the operations and administrations of USBC and the California Youth Committee (CYC); assist adult association officers and directors wherever possible and to serve on various committees of the California Youth Committee (CYC) and to promote youth bowling through membership drives, serving as student coaches, conducting training programs and instructing timely projects to further the growth and interest in youth bowling.

All certified USBC youth bowlers that reside in California are eligible to become a Youth Leader locally and must be at least the age of 14 to become a youth leader with the CYLA Program. Any member under suspension from membership in USBC shall be ineligible to serve as a youth leader. The members of the CYLA shall control the affairs of the organization and shall have the power to adopt procedures and amend or rescind these procedures as long as they are not inconsistent with the Constitution and By-Laws of the California USBC Association or the USBC.

One of the duties of the CYLA is to host and organize the Annual Queens & Master, Prince & Princess and Coaches Relief Tournament every weekend of the State Championship Tournament.

Currently, the Youth Leaders are working on the 2009 Mystery Scotch Doubles Tournament for Convention weekend in June, gearing up for the Queens & Masters, Prince & Princess, and Duke & Duchess events during the youth state championships this summer. We are also working on trying to get more kids to the convention for next year. Doug is also trying to find out more information regarding the old USBC national workshops in hopes that it will be reinstated once again for the youth.

I started bowling when I was 3 years old. I have a high game of 300 (2) and a high 3 game series of 790. I spend my free time staying active in my CHP Explorer post. I have also been involved on the state board since 2003 and have started college this year. I started bowling when I was six and have been competing in tournaments for the past 4 years. I bowl out of Albany Bowl during the school year, and Homestead Lanes in the summer.

I have been bowling for as long as I can remember. I have been involved on every level of the state and I have enjoyed my time. When I am not bowling, I am spending a lot of time in the classroom as a sophomore in college studying business. I have been bowling certified events since 1997. I was involved with my local association, the San Fernando Valley YABA from 2002 until the association merged. I was involved with the California State YABA from 2004 until it merged. I have been involved with the CUSBC since the merge, through the CYLA and joined the California Youth Committee in 2006. I was elected to serve on the CUSBC board in June of 2007 and am currently the Tournament Director of the State Queens &  Masters Tournament. I currently own a bowling pro shop and hope to be heavily involved in the bowling industry in the near future.
