SHARON ARONSON is a member of the Modesto USBC Association and has been one of their top bowlers since relocating from Southern California in 2002.  And, to quote in part from one of the Modesto newspaper writers, “Sharon Aronson has reached the pinnacle of bowling in California, having been elected to the California USBC 2008 Hall of Fame in the Superior Performance category".  Aronson’s bowling career began while she was attending Fresno State University in 1981.  She was named an All-American and in 2004 and in 2006 reached her all-time high average of 228.  During the 27 years of bowling, Aronson averaged more than 210 for 15 years, and 200 plus for 21 years.  She has recorded (12) 300 games and is in the record books with a high series of 823.  Aronson captured the California Women’s Bowling Association Queens Tournament title in 1998, placing in the top eight two other years.  She was crowned “Queen” of the 2000 Women’s International Bowling Congress Queens Tournament and ninth in 1999.  She placed second in the CWBA State Tournament doubles division in 1995 and 2005 and scored the high game/high series in 1996 with 297/774 and in 1999 with 300/754.  As a member of the Western Women’s Professional Bowlers for 13 years, Aronson won four tournaments.  She was named Bowler of the Year in 1997, 1998.and 2000;  Rookie of the Year in 1989; and inducted into the WWPB Hall of Fame in 2000.  Her first-place finishes in tournaments bowled in Fresno, Orange County and Modesto fill a list too numerous to count. The Modesto USBC Association named Aronson Bowler of the Year-Women’s Scratch Division for three years.

      George Glavas has given of himself to the Sacramento bowling community all of his bowling career and will be honored for that by the California USBC when he is inducted into their 2008 Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service.  After several years of officiating on the league level, he was elected to the Sacramento Bowling Association Board of Directors.  He remained active for over 50 years, serving on all committees; as 4^th Vice President in 1960; President in 1965; local chairman of the 1974-75 California State Association Tournament;  and even at one point, served as the Association Secretary.  Glavas was the first male to serve on the California State BVL Committee.  In 1969, the SBA presented Glavas the First Annual Ralph B. Sutton Memorial Distinguished Service Award for Meritorious Service to the community.  In 1970-76 he served as a Director to the California State Bowling Association.  Glavas was a gifted bowling writer and had a way with words in his “Down The Alley” column in the Sacramento Bowling News, which in 1966, earned him a  First Place Award in the Editorial Division from the Bowling Writers of America.  From 1971-76, Glavas served as Director to the American Bowling Congress, offering much of his service on the High Scores and Legal Committees.  In 1981, Glavas was inducted into the SBA Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service.  And, in 2004, was elected as Director to the California State Senior Board.  Even though Glavas did not run for office on the new Sacramento Area USBC Association, he continues to volunteer in any way possible, especially with his BVL passion.  He was the first to volunteer to work BVL week in the leagues.  And, he could be found at the 2007 Youth Tournament, every weekend day - but one... and that was so he could attend the GSA Installation Dinner.  This distinguished gentleman, George Glavas, who just celebrated his 80^th birthday, and Sharon Aronson will be honored on April 27^th at the Second Annual Meeting of the California USBC at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City.
