centers. Also all scholarship recipients were mailed a
scholarship packet. Please contact us if you do that receive

Welcome
to the 2009 California Pepsi USBC Youth Championships. Every youth bowler should be
given their FREE chance to qualify. Last year California awarded
$70,000 in scholarships and your youths deserve a chance at this
great opportunity!
The Pepsi Championships will be
conducted in six (6) divisions: Boys’ 11-under Handicap, Girls’
11-under Handicap, Boys’ 12-up Handicap, Girls’ 12-up Handicap,
Boys’ 12-up Scratch and Girls’ 12-up Scratch. The 11-under division
will earn scholarships at the District Finals (March 2009) and the
12-up division will earn scholarships at the State Finals (May 2-3, 2009 at CLASSIC BOWL in DALY CITY)
as well as vying
for four berths into the USBC USA Jr. Gold National Finals (Scratch div.
only).
Major changes for 2009:
-
State finalists in the scratch division are competing for 4
berths (2 boys/2 girls) into the USBC USA Jr. Gold National
Championships held in Indianapolis, Indiana (July 2009) along
with a travel stipend.

There will
no longer be a Pepsi National Finals for the handicap division.
-
Bowlers in
the 12-up division who have an entering average of 211 or higher
MUST compete in the Scratch division.
Handicap
for all levels throughout is changing to 100% of 210.
COACHES, MAKE SURE TO UPDATE THIS INFORMATION IN YOUR BLS
SOFTWARE as well as the new entry fee amounts and Aug 1, 2008
birthday cut off date!

your support and participation in one of the largest scholarship
events in California. Last year we worked extremely hard with your
help in raising funds so that we could award $70,000 in
scholarships! With the rising cost of education, this tournament
strongly benefits many young bowlers on their way to a promising
future.

12-Up State Finals Information (12-Up divisions only):
State Finalists qualify from the District Finals to the
State Finals based on a ratio of 1:5 per division. State Finalists are competing for
scholarships and the top four scratch bowlers will earn berths
into the USBC Jr. Gold Championships
(July-Indianapolis, IN) each receiving a travel
stipend. The State Finals will be a certified sport bowling
event. All scholarship winners from the State Finals will
receive a scholarship packet in the mail in June with
instructions on how to retrieve their funds from SMART.
