CONGRATULATIONS
LAURIE SOTO
4-time California Queens Champion!

We know at least one person that doesn’t want the
California State Queens event to fold! Laurie Soto earned her
fourth California State Queen’s title this weekend held at Tyme to Bowl
Lanes in Oroville. We had 14 bowlers that qualified from the Women’s
Championships held at Nu Generation Lanes in Yuba Sutter seeded into the
finals along with Andrea Snyder our 2009 past champion. That left
17 open spots available for the taking in the Last Chance qualifier. In
the Last Chance squad, Paige Woodard from Stockton was the high
qualifier shooting 191-220-238-214-204-210 = 1277. $170 bonus awards
went to Paige and to Sarina Leitz from Redding for the squad’s
high game of 269. The finals started at 1pm after the Last Chance squad
and we plowed through 7 rounds of double elimination best 2 of 3 matches
that day. On Sunday, after round 11, Leanne Hulsenberg
triumphantly came through the contender’s bracket to meet Laurie in the
Championship match. Laurie remained untouchable and defeated Leanne
earning her 4th title and a nice check for $1,625 plus an entry into the
2011 USBC National Queens event. From the Finals, $170 bonus awards went
to Roxanna Horton for both the highest 2 game series (489) and
high game (255).
Laurie would like to thank Proprietor, Larry Campbell and the entire
staff at Tyme to Bowl Lanes for their hospitality and for hosting the
2010 California Queens tournament. A special thank you to CUSBC and Gold
Country Casino for sponsoring the event. Laurie would also like to thank
Ed White at Tyme to Bowl Pro Shop for catering to all of the lady
bowlers this past weekend and to Steve Hamaguchi of Kearney Mesa Pro
Shop in San Diego for laying out her new Ebonite Curve ball. The CUSBC
would like to thank Ron Rogers Photography for taking the finals
pictures (www. ronrogersphotography.net).
