3rd Annual
Hosted by: Stockton WBA USBC

$92,596 paid in prize funds
for 2008 Women's Championships

The 3rd Annual California USBC Women’s Championships concluded on July 20, 2008 after 8 weekends. The tournament was hosted by the Stockton USBC WBA with the Team Event held at Pacific Ave Bowl and Doubles/Singles held at West Lane Bowl. The Management and Staff of the host centers are to be commended for an excellent job of hosting over 3600 women bowlers.

Checks were mailed to the winners in the amount of $92,596.00 and the trophies for the winners were sent to CUSBC board members for presentations. Participation plates were awarded to those bowlers who have competed in the tournament for 25 years. Additional inserts were given to the following bowlers: 6 for 45 years, 9 for 40 years, 12 for 35 years and 29 for 30 years.

The participation pins were provided again this year and was very much appreciated by the bowlers. A California USBC 200 pin was given to 1350 bowlers rolling games of 200 or better. All USBC emblems and pins were presented to those earning them.

The recognition award continues to be a good promotional tool for incentive of organizing 6 or more teams. Certificates were given to all of these ladies for their support of the tournament.

Chicken feed cans were again placed in the bowlers area and $1,378.00 was collected for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame and the 50/50 raffle raised $1,118.40 for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. Thank you to all of our tournament bowlers for their generosity.

I would like to thank all of the CUSBC board members and the Stockton USBC WBA and the Stockton USBC BA members who volunteered to work at the tournament site. It would be very difficult task to conduct a tournament efficiently without the help of the volunteers.

Hope to see everyone at the 2009 California Women’s Championships hosted by the Orange County USBC Association.
